Unhinged

Coming apart...that's the rumor we hear about the Santa Cruz Flea Market operating since 1971. We hear the land has been sold and the plug's been pulled and the party's about to end. I'll keep you posted as the story unravels....

I can't believe the Santa Cruzans would let their flea market end! Isn't there a piece of land somewhere that it could be moved? ALso, isn't this like one of the last drive-ins in the US?

It is one of the last drive-ins in the US. We've all signed petitions, etc BUT the land was sold to Sutter Hospital which has a surgical hospital right next door. Construction for a new hosptial is set to begin in a year or so but rumor has it no one can afford the liablity insurance to keep the flea running until construction begins. Land around here is SO expensive people are not optimistic the flea will find a home. It's supposed to close sometime in November and NONE of us can believe it!

Coney Island and now the Santa Cruz flea market. (The drive-in too?) I swear, I want to cry, no joke.
