The first time I went to Las Vegas my friend said, "Don't bring any more than you can afford to lose." I brought $20.00 (it was a few years ago).
I was excited as we rolled onto the strip. We parked in an alley next to a man sitting on the curb with his head in his hands.
"Boy, what's wrong with him?" I asked, giddy with the adventure of it all.
"He probably lost it all," my friend said. I looked at the man with pity.
Twenty minutes later I knew exactly how he felt.
