Hollywood or Bust

When my son, Sol was nine or ten years old I was working full-time at George Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert. I brought home $88.00 every two weeks and drove an old car that overheated and went through several re-caps a month.

One day out of the blue, Sol said: Mom, take me to Hollywood so I can be in commercials!

I said: I don't have enough gas to take you to Hollywood...

I can just imagine where we'd all be now if I'd earned just a little bit more...

Now what kind of trees would those be?

Irene, the bush in the foreground I believe is Greasewood and the big tree in back of course is a Joshua...

Judging by the lives of the child stars, I think it was a wise choice to stay put. I can't imaging it could have turned out better!

Well, you're right of course. I was just have a little fantasy moment in which I imagined all of us living on acres of land with wide open spaces and no money worries and lots of adoring people around...come to think of it I guess that did partially happen!
