A matter of balance

Recently we drove through saguaro cactus country in southern Arizona. These amazing 'creatures' can live to be 200 years old. They don't grow 'arms' for at least 75 years. They have very shallow root systems, can weigh up to a ton and the arms grow in exactly the position that will provide balance to the huge plant.

For the last week I've been suffering from a mysterious case of vertigo. It's kept me somewhat hobbled and fuzzy-brained. I haven't been to the doctor because the doctor will just shake her head. And though I'm not quite 75, I've decided growing more arms is my best bet.

An obvious problem with cati is that they don't get enough water. So since you're not visiting a doctor, let me ask in their sted, "Are you getting enough water?"

So here I am, standing stock still with a canteen around my neck, slathered in calming creme. I'm feeling good.

hey!
this is a great piece about the cactus..i have been thinking about it for the past few days.
also, a friend of mine just had her first awful experience of vertigo and it ended up being water in her ear that was causing it. however she had no idea that she had water in her ear..no pain there at all or fullness.
i hope it leaves you soon that old vertigo..sounds really terrible!

Thanks, Wendy. I still have the ol' vertigo. It's awful. Someone else suggested the water in the ear thing. Trouble is: what do you do about it??? Yikes!

I've installed handrails all around my house and I'm getting pretty good at staggering from room to room.
