We're hitting the road this morning for a few days. We were looking forward to getting away from all the gadgets, all the connections.
So far we've packed: one computer, 2 digital cameras, 2 cell phones, one Nintendo DS game and one video camera.
It's hard to imagine that once I moved to a desert house on the end of a dirt road 6 miles out of town with nothing more powerful than one kerosene lamp.
See you on Tuesday.

Sometimes I long for my childhood days when I eagerly awaited the Gene Autry show on the radio (tube type of course).
...well that's not totally true. We also had a battery-powered 8-track where Sol and I learned about the wonders of Johnny Cash ("A Girl Named Sue"), Anne Murray ("Snowbird"), and Charlie Rich ("Behind Closed Doors"). Oh yeah, and America ("Horse with No Name")
Aaron, I also forgot to mention running a cord through the living room window and attaching it to our car battery so we could watch Bakersfield TV one hour a day on a 10 inch black and white, one channel, all snow and static.
Tai: 8 tracks are easy to recognize. They look like old toasters.
Juliet: Welcome. I hope you tune in often.
...and that Bakersfield TV was riveting!
Yeah, remember Bonanza?
Oh yeah. And remember "Let Me Talk to the Manager" where the two station chiefs would fall asleep on live TV?
Hmm. I don't remember the details. I must have been asleep.
